Nia Valentine is an ANCC Board Certified Nurse Practitioner who is qualified to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner; however, her specialty is Pain Management. Nia’s pain management style is considered traditional as she assesses for interventional injections needs, prescribes medications, and incorporates other modalities such as braces, physical therapy and chiropractic therapy. Ms. Valentine, however, is also a supporter of lifestyle modifications, proper nutrition, regular exercise and stress management. She believes in the mind/body/spiritual connection, and understands that pain affects the whole person. Nia began her medical career in family medicine fifteen years ago, where she began treating pain, both chronic and acute. Throughout her career and no matter what area she’s worked in; primary care, retail health, health insurance assessments, school-based health, or same day walk in clinic; she noticed ‘pain’ being a common theme. At times patients were venting, but sometimes they were seeking care as they were either not managed or under-managed. Ms. Valentine ultimately decided that to make the biggest impact, she needed to work specifically in pain management. Nia is now able to help patients identify their pain sources, provide validation and guide the patient to the quality of life that they hope for through an agreed upon plan of action. Nia’s hobbies include loving God, tag teaming with her husband to be an “Uber” to her elementary aged son, going her son’s basketball games (usually at least four in a weekend), spending time with her family/friends and traveling.
